IISA: rom recognition to action: what’s next?

2025-06-23 - Now that Ice Swimming has been officially recognised as an aquatic discipline by European Aquatics, a new era is unfolding for the sport: full of exciting possibilities and growth.

In close collaboration with national federations and the IISA community, the focus is now shifting from recognition to real action.

What does this mean moving forward?

• A bigger and more diverse calendar of national-level events and championships - giving athletes more chances to compete and shine
• Strengthened support systems to build and connect national federations, creating a truly united Ice Swimming network across countries
• Advanced training and certification programs to raise the bar for safety and technical excellence
• Official recognition of IISA world records and rankings - making every milestone count and inspiring new achievements
• Smarter coordination of calendars, infrastructure, and resources to optimize growth and accessibility
