Over the last decade, the Guinness World Records for farthest and longest continuous swims in a counter-current pool has been set and broken by English Channel record holder Chloë McCardel of Australia, Dennis T. Seiler-Holm of Denmark, Yuko Matsuzaki, Pablo Fernández Álvarez of Spain, Alberto Lorente, Mayra Santos of Brazil and Portugal, Olympic champion Maarten van der Weijden of the Netherlands, and finally Pablo Fernández Álvarez twice again.
