European Aquatics is delighted to announce the schedule and locations for the 2025 European Aquatics Open Water Cup, a highlight of the marathon swimming calendar. The events will take place across five stunning venues, offering diverse and challenging conditions for Europe’s top athletes. The series begins on 3rd May 2025 in Protaras, Cyprus, before heading to Setubal, Portugal, on 22nd June. The third leg follows in Paris, France on 26th July, before continuing to Barcelona, Spain on 20th September and concluding in Razanac, Croatia, on 27th September – creating a fascinating finale with two rounds in as many weeks.
The European Aquatics Open Water Cup is renowned for testing the resilience and skills of athletes in natural water environments, such as seas and lakes, where competitors must contend with varying temperatures, currents, and weather conditions across the 10km race.
In 2024, the competition saw Italy’s Andrea Filadelli and France’s Ines Delacroix crowned as overall champions, following five intense stages. Filadelli secured his title with a photo-finish second place in the final leg in Razanac, while Delacroix’s consistent top-six performances throughout the series earned her the overall title. These victories capped a thrilling season that highlighted the skill and determination of Europe’s best.
