IISA Press Release
The International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) today concludes the 2nd European Open Ice Swimming Championships, held in Molveno, Italy, 3 – 7 February 2026. The Championships brought together 512 qualified athletes from 32 nations in competition across a full programme of sprint and middle-distance pool events under officially sanctioned ice swimming conditions (water temperatures near freezing).

European Aquatics is delighted to announce the schedule and locations for the 2025 European Aquatics Open Water Cup, a highlight of the marathon swimming calendar. The events will take place across five stunning venues, offering diverse and challenging conditions for Europe’s top athletes. The series begins on 3rd May 2025 in Protaras, Cyprus, before heading to Setubal, Portugal, on 22nd June. The third leg follows in Paris, France on 26th July, before continuing to Barcelona, Spain on 20th September and concluding in Razanac, Croatia, on 27th September – creating a fascinating finale with two rounds in as many weeks.

Marcel Schouten, openwaterzwemmer uit Nederland, neemt deel aan de 37e editie van de Ohrid Swimming Marathon. Dit jaar zullen in totaal 19 zwemmers uit negen verschillende landen deelnemen aan dit prestigieuze binnenlandse zwemevenement, dat plaatsvindt op 31 augustus 2024, onder de vlag van LEN (Ligue Européenne de Natation).

Het is tijd om weer naar huis te gaan. Een aantal van Team Nederland waren gisteren al onderweg, maar de meeste zullen vandaag terug reizen.
Wij mogen terug kijken op een hele mooie week met top prestaties van al onze zwemmers
In totaal behaalde Team Nederland 17 gouden Age Group medailles, 11 zilveren, en 9 bronzen. Daarnaast werd er één bronzen overall medaille gehaald.
