A young Ugandan swimmer Ahmed Tatiana, accompanied by the sister Madinah Akeelah held a fresh bouquet of flowers in the VIP section of Entebbe International Airport.
Tatiana’s moment to shine arrived moments later as she handed over the flowers to the World Swimming body, International Swimming Federation (FINA) president Captain Dr. Husain AHZ Al-Musallam on his first ever visit to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.

Nederland komt met achttien zwemmers uit op de WK langebaan en WK openwater in juni in Boedapest. Negen vrouwen en negen mannen hebben voldaan aan de kwalificatie-eisen en zitten in de ploeg die door bondscoach Mark Faber is bekendgemaakt.
Onder anderen Arno Kamminga, vorig jaar tweevoudig winnaar van olympisch zilver, en voormalig wereldrecordhoudsterKira Toussaint zitten bij de selectie voor het toernooi op de langebaan, dat van 18 tot en met 25 juni is. De WK openwater zijn op 29 en 30 juni in de Hongaarse hoofdstad, waar onder anderen Sharon van Rouwendaal zal zwemmen.

2021-12-16 - Openwaterzwemster Sharon van Rouwendaal is bij de laatste wereldbekerwedstrijd van het seizoen bij het Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival als derde geëindigd.
De tweevoudig olympisch medaillewinnares (goud in Rio, zilver in Tokio) moest op de tien kilometer in het water van Yas Bay de Duitse Leonie Beck en Ana Marcela Cunha uit Brazilië voor zich dulden. ,,Ik ben heel erg tevreden dat ik het podium haal in zo’n sterk veld. The Dutch duo of Sharon van Rouwendaal and Ferry Weertman [shown above] won the first stop on the FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series in 2 hours 2 minutes 24.4 seconds and 1 hour 52 minues 41.6 seconds respectively.
The 2016 Olympic champions from the Netherlands kicked off their 2018 open water swimming campaign with powerful performances over a field of global stars from 24 countries in Doha, Qatar.

Rio 2016 open water champions Ferry Weertman and Sharon Van Rouwendaal delivered a Dutch double in the opening event of this year’s International Swimming Federation (FINA) Marathon Swim World Series, held for the first time in Doha.
Weertman took the men’s 10 kilometre title in 1 hour 52min 42.60sec, less than a second ahead of France’s David Aubry.

FINA announced the renewal of its partnership with HOSA to support the FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series until 2021.
The Chinese swimwear manufacturer started its sponsorship of the professional marathon swimming circuit in 2015.

The first FINA open water event Qatar ever hosted officially kicked-off today in Doha that plays host to the inaugural leg of the FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series 2018.
After announcing the partnership renewal with Chinese sponsor HOSA last week for the Series from 2018-2021, FINA revealed, today at the opening press conference in Doha, a brand new partnership with timing services provider Microplus Informatica, an Italian company which becomes the Series official timekeeper for the 2018 and 2019 editions.

Ferry Weertman heeft bij de wereldbekerwedstrijd in Chun'An net naast een podiumplaats gegrepen. De 25-jarige wereldkampioen en winnaar van olympisch goud bij Rio 2016 eindigde in het Chinese water als vierde.
