This past weekend (December 14 and 15, 2024), the Amsterdam Ice Swim brought together ice swimming enthusiasts from around the world for an unforgettable event in the heart of Amsterdam.
It all started with Fergil Hesterman's vision to share his passion for ice swimming through events like this one in the Netherlands. What began in 2017 with 75 swimmers has grown into a vibrant community of nearly 200 participants, demonstrating the remarkable growth of ice swimming as a sport and lifestyle.
Held at Natuurspeeltuin Jeugdland, swimmers braved the chilly waters in events ranging from 50m sprints to the challenging 1000m. The serene and beautiful setting was filled with the energy of cheers and camaraderie from swimmers and spectators alike.
A special thanks goes to Christa, who, together with many others, played a crucial role in organizing this incredible event. Your dedication and hard work created a weekend that we’ll all remember.
We are so grateful to all the participants, organizers, and volunteers who made this event so special. Can't wait to see you all again next year!
