The 2024 Open Water Swimming World Cup season kicks off in the waters of Soma Bay, Egypt, home to the successful 2023 Open Water Swimming World Cup as part of the Egypt Aquatics Festival. The second stop will be Golfo Aranci, Italy, a coastal town renowned for its warm Sardinian hospitality. "Sardinia is like a second home for many of us who compete in open water swimming. It's always a joy to race there," said German swimmer Leonie Beck.

World Open Water Swimming Association Advisory Board’s Decision on Diana Nyad’s 2013 Cuba to Florida Swim Official Statement on the Denial of Ratification for Diana Nyad’s Swim
San Francisco, CA (WOWSA) September 11, 2023 – In August 2013, Diana Nyad undertook her 5th attempt to swim from Cuba to Florida. This endeavor took place after similar Cuba-to-Florida crossings by Walter Poenisch (utilizing a shark cage, with snorkel and fins) and Susan Maroney (utilizing a shark cage, without snorkel and fins).
Following the Diana Nyad crossing, a number of controversies related to the swim were raised and shared publicly by experienced open water swimmers. Some of the controversies can be summarized as follows:

Honor Organization the Channel Swimming Association has in place a leading practice when it comes to performance enhancing drugs. In addition to written rules/guidance to swimmers, they also do some random testing > APPLAUSE!.

All Halls of Fame and Honor Organizations wish to create and maintain the highest possible reputation. As a result, all face a similar question: What are the correct and appropriate actions, as well as reasons, which justify an individual (or organization) to be prevented from induction or removed if previously inducted? There are no right answers. Every organization must find its own way.

De Turkse stad Istanbul is druk en het kan best lang duren voordat je op je werk bent. Daar heeft een groepje Turkse mannen wat op bedacht. Zo ook baklavabakker Mehmet: hij gaat iedere dag zwemmend naar zijn werk en dat bespaart hem de nodige tijd.

Normaal gesproken varen er talloze schepen door het Panamakanaal, maar wist je dat er ook iemand zwemmend door het kanaal is gegaan? In 1928 deed Richard Halliburton er tien dagen over om de volledige lengte van het kanaal af te zwemmen.
